Children and staff at Supertots Nursery prepare for their own Jolly Josh Pirate Day
It’s anchors aweigh for the Jolly Josh annual Pirate Day fundraiser, as the local children’s centre charity calls for ‘all hands on deck’ to join their fundraising crew.
On Friday 30 September the whole community is invited to enjoy their own pirating fun to raise funds for Castleton based Jolly Josh, a centre designed specifically for the needs of children living with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) complex medical needs and/or physical disabilities.
Of this annual fundraising day, Community Fundraiser Lillie Winterbottom said: “We want our whole community to get involved with this year’s Pirate Day.  It’s a chance to wave the Jolly Josh flag and have some fun at the same time as raising much needed funds for this inclusive and supportive centre.
“Jolly Josh fundraisers can do whatever they like to embrace the pirate theme; dress up or dress down, create a treasure map or simply hold a friends and family pirate themed quiz are just a few ideas – the sky is the limit.
“Pirate Day will raise a few smiles at the same time as raising funds which will all go towards helping our children and families.”
Local nursery Supertots on Edenfield Road are ready to set sail on 30 September and got a super surprise this week when they received a visit from a very special visitor – Jolly Josh himself!
Supertots Nursery manager Lauren said: "We are really excited to be getting involved in this year's Jolly Josh Pirate Day and turning the nursery into a pirate ship for the day.
"We'll be having fun at the same time as helping this brilliant local charity as they support children in the borough who have complex needs, and their families too.
"As well as fundraising on the day we will be making sure that any of our families with children who would benefit from the support of Jolly Josh, know all about its services."
Are you planning your own Pirate Day extravaganza? The team at Jolly Josh want to know all about it and how they can support you – you could even book a visit on the day from the team’s captain, Jolly Josh.
