The Indian men’s hockey team got a 9-0 victory over Bangladesh on Wednesday to bounce back in their second match at the Asian Champions Trophy in Dhaka on December 15. Dilpreet Singh grabbed a hat-trick and six other goals were scored as India secured a big win to inch ahead on the points table ahead of their clash against Pakistan.
India drew with South Korea 2-2 in their first match despite taking a two-goal lead. Skipper Manpreet Singh said after the match, “This was the first match of the tournament and we will surely bounce back against Bangladesh.” Following this match, India’s third match in the 5-team tournament will be against arch-rivals Pakistan on December 17.

8-0 to India! The misery continues for Bangladesh as another field goal goes inside. Mandeep Mor makes it 8 with 5 minutes to go. And a 9th! With 3 minutes left on the clock. India pump in the goals in the last quarter. Harmanpreet converts a Penalty Corner to make it 9-0.

India want another PC in the fourth quarter, Bangladesh go for a video referral. That attack is not successful but India do get a 7th through a field goal.
Akashdeep Singh makes his mark! His first goal in the tournament.

The final quarter gets underway. Bangladesh are yet to trouble the Indian goal with just about more than 10 minutes left in the match. Lalit splits the Bangladesh defence apart with a pass, Sumeet receives but cannot get the shot away. That pass deserved a goal!
Bangladesh get a rare attack going. India get numbers back in their own half in time. Bangladesh lacking creativity in the final third.

Hat-trick for Dilpreet! The first hat-trick of the 2021 Asian Champions Trophy. All three of his goals have been field goal. India now go 6-0 up in the 3rd Quarter. Bangladesh just want this nightmare to be over.
The hooter at the end of Q3 goes to end their misery for now at least. 15 more minutes for India to pile on their misery.

Akashdeep singh makes a fine run through the Bangladesh defence, but drags his shot just wide off goal. He has had a great tournament so far, making the most of making it to the team after his Tokyo 2020 disappointment. 
Now India score again! Jarmanpreet converts another PC. It’s 5-0 to India with 1 minute left in Q3. His second goal. Both Jarmanpreet and Dilpreet on hat-tricks now.

Bangladesh now look to hit back. The ball has been in their half for almost the entire duration of the match, now they look to make a few inroads in the other half. Dilpreet’s brace and the two PC goals – by Lalit and Jarmanpreet, with Harmanpreet having a big contribution in both – are what divides the two teams.
India get another PC as the 3rd Quarter winds down. Their 10th PC of the match.

Manpreet’s stick makes contact with a Bangladesh defender’s head, the Indian skipper calls for attention immediately even as the Indian attack moves forward. India earn a PC after a short break. Jarmanpreet Singh now scores from the PC. A 4th goal for India!

Now India score off a PC! Harmanpreet with the drag flick. Lalit with the deflection to get his second goal of the tournament and India’s third of the match.
