As the second of three pillars in the 2025 GTS Strategic plan, technology is at the heart of BNP Paribas’ efforts to support its clients and accelerate their transition. We take a look back at some of the notable milestones in technology so far in 2022, from digital services to initiatives that make tech more accessible.
A look back at notable deals and partnerships so far in 2022
LIt has always been obvious that payment methods would be a key feature of the digital revolution. All economic players, from consumers to large corporates, and including merchants are concerned. This has become a strategic issue for BNP Paribas. Start-ups are part of the solution, enabling better integrate digital uses in the payment process. This is what was showcased at ViVaTech 2022, where BNP Paribas and its partners demonstrated the power of 100% customer-oriented innovation.

Two enthusiastic and committed women help us discover the IT professions, which are often viewed as being male-dominated. They open the doors of their department within BNP Paribas to tell us how they work and their role within the Group. Alice works in Global Markets IT in London, whereas Edna works within IT Group, based in Paris. While being quite different they share the same passion for IT and you can see this reflected in their faces. They share their views, their career paths and their experience in IT. Together we take a look at the IT department at BNP Paribas, its opportunities, its strengths and its singularities.

The BNP Paribas Group has set itself an ambitious target: to have 37% of women in our IT sector by the end of 2024 (compared to 32% today), through both internal and external recruitment.
In 2017, BNP Paribas Wealth Management launched its Client Experience programme, which brought together 400 private bankers, experts, clients and fintechs to co-create new digital solutions. With clients rapidly adopting digital tools, their expectations regarding digital experience have become even more demanding.
On 7 July 2022, BNP Paribas structured, tokenised and distributed a bond, the proceeds of which aim at refinancing a solar energy project sponsored by EDF through its subsidiary EDF ENR. This native digital asset, issued on the public blockchain, represents the first renewable energy bond tokenisation on the project financing market.
