A vineyard based in Ketton took home the third award of the evening for Business Innovation at the Rutland and Stamford Mercury Business Awards 2022.
Judges selected The Rutland Vineyard as the winner, noting that “inventing a new product, creating a new way of thinking, or developing a new way of doing something can all be considered innovations”.
Speaking on stage, Chloe Chisholm from category sponsor Alltech, said: “Our winner in this category has done all of these, by taking their passion within their sector and developing new and exciting ways to build a thriving business, with a huge following of customers.

“In addition to developing new methods within their practice, they have also used innovative ideas to engage customers and the community, thereby ensuring longevity within their business.”
Tim and Zoe Beaver, from The Rutland Vineyard, were thrilled to win.
“For something that has not really been done in this area, the enthusiasm from the whole community of Ketton has been incredible so we would really like to say thank you to them,” Zoe said.
Last year Zoe and Tim Beaver embarked on a mission to transform their farmland in Ketton into a vineyard.
Planting 13,100 seeds in fields off Barrowden Road, the couple aims to harvest grapes which will be turned into British wine.
Currently no grapes are being harvested due to the plants needing time to mature, so the wine is being shipped over from Kent.
However in 2024 the business will serve its own produce, grown in Rutland and turned into wine in the south of France.
“We thought we would just mosey along for the first year but the support has been absolutely incredible and to win this is so exciting, not just for us but for the whole team. We’re incredibly lucky to have such support around us,” Zoe added.
The other finalists in the category were Clarity Stack in Warmington, an AI-powered business intelligence tool, and Connections Legal Management in Ketton, which negotiates, manages and assists with the legal completion of land acquisitions.
