Chelsea players and staff were stunned to see an ambulance outside their hotel in Las Vegas and paramedics dealing with an emergency.
It turned out that one of the gamblers in the casino at the Mandalay Bay, at the bottom end of the famous strip, had won big and then suffered a heart attack which is, sadly, not an uncommon development in the gambling capital of the world.

Manchester City’s long-time comms chief departs after more than two decades
Agenda recently reported that Manchester United are set to go into the new season without a communications chief and the same can now be said of Manchester City.
After more than two decades at the helm, Vicky Kloss has decided to step away from the role to spend some much-needed time with her family.
Kloss will be a big loss for City and for the media. The Cambridge Latin graduate and former Met Police detective had that rare quality of being able to have an all-guns blazing row one day while being fine company the next.
Vicky Kloss departs Manchester City after over two decades of service to the club she has supported all her life
Her finest hour at City, of whom she is a lifelong fan, may well have been when Sir Alex Ferguson confronted her in the tunnel at Old Trafford before a derby, mistakenly believing it was Kloss who had been behind the infamous ‘Welcome to Manchester’ billboard, which triggered much acrimony when City signed former United striker Carlos Tevez.
With the hairdryer on at full blast, Kloss returned a Fergie-esque volley of her own, leaving the United legend in no doubt that the advert was nothing to do with her and that he might be better served trying to bully his own staff.

All change at Nottingham Forest ahead of their Premier League return
Strange  goings-on at newly- promoted Nottingham Forest. With respected press officer Matt Appleby taking a break at the end of the season and not expected to return, his replacement, Warwickshire communications chief Tom Rawlings, lasted six weeks. An interim — the owner’s son’s PR — is in the role with the club seeking a director of comms with 12 days to go to the new campaign. The jump to the Premier League brings with it a series of new requirements when it comes to looking after the media, which include stadium upgrades. ‘It doesn’t make any sense,’ said one industry insider. Forest declined to comment.

Past and present figures in Formula One push back against track changes
The threat to the sporting status quo is not limited to LIV Golf. There is a mounting pushback from past and present Formula One drivers at the ruling body’s threat to drop iconic races such as Monaco and Spa next year. In a search for revenue, F1 are looking to add more lucrative circuits to the calendar. However, the concern is that more nations would use F1 for sportwashing their human rights records. One insider said it would be like removing Wimbledon from the tennis circuit and replacing it with an event in North Korea.

London Olympic Games has a strong legacy in relation to women’s football
The London Olympic Games will be widely celebrated as it reaches its 10-year anniversary this week, and while most people will remember it for Super Saturday and medals on the water and in the velodrome, there is little doubt that it was the Games that acted as a catalyst for the success women’s football is enjoying today. While England opened this year’s Euros campaign in front of 69,000 fans at Old Trafford, that is still short of the 77,000 who watched Team GB beat Brazil at Wembley in 2012. The Olympic final between USA and Japan also drew a crowd of more than 80,000.
The London Olympics can garner a lot of credit for the job it did in growing women’s football
Sunday’s Euro final should see a new record attendance as it is an 87,200 sell-out at Wembley and there is the chance of hosts England being there.
Lancashire supporters launch petition against plans to reduce County Championship fixtures
A campaigning group of Lancashire supporters have launched a petition against rumoured plans to reduce the number of matches in the County Championship.
The Lancashire Action Group fear the 14 matches could be reduced to as few as 10 under the Sir Andrew Strauss review and have complained that supporters are yet to be consulted.
They point out that such a drastic change could not be made without a significant majority of support from the counties and have called on fans — especially at the 15 member-owned counties — to make their views known to their boards. The group have had more than 1,500 responses. ‘The Hundred was imposed on cricket fans,’ they say. ‘Let’s not repeat that here.’

Matt Fitzpatrick the most starstruck as he shows off his US Open trophy to the Blades squad
Sheffield United arranged for keen fan Matt Fitzpatrick to turn up at training to show off his US Open trophy. The visit was kept a secret from the United players, many of whom are keen golfers.
The modest Sheffield lad passed the trophy round, posed for pictures and even did a question and answer session. Insiders said it was the 27-year-old Ryder Cup man who looked the most starstruck.
