UNC football receives one vote in USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll – Tar Heels Wire

The North Carolina Tar Heels are 2-0 to start the 2022 college football season following a thrilling 63-61 win over Appalachian State on Saturday. Going into this weekend’s Georgia State game, the Tar Heels are unbeaten and have a chance to be 3-0 before their showdown with Notre Dame.
But even with two-straight wins to open up the year, the Tar Heels are still unranked in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. UNC were one of the teams that did receive votes, however, but it was only one. They joined the following teams to earn votes:
Tennessee 143; Penn State 138; Houston 137; Cincinnati 61; Iowa 44; Mississippi State 34; Florida State 33; Central Florida 23; Fresno State 21; Air Force 18; Auburn 15; Texas Christian 7; UCLA 6; South Carolina 6; Utah State 5; Minnesota 5; Syracuse 4; Oregon State 3; UL Lafayette 1; Texas Tech 1; Northwestern 1; North Carolina 1.
Five teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference were ranked after Week 1 with Clemson leading the way at No. 4 followed by N.C. State (No. 13), Pitt (No. 14), Miami (No. 16) and Wake Forest (No. 21).
Below is the full poll:
UNC is set to travel to take on Georgia State in Week 2 and will have a bye week before the Week 4 game against Notre Dame.
