Weather: Sky News broadcasts live footage of the sun during UK heatwave – Metro.co.uk

NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Sky News has been broadcasting live footage of the actual sun to illustrate its reports of the scorching heatwave blasting the UK today.
The Met Office has forecast London could see highs of 38°C today, with the capital hotter than Havana, Islamabad, the Western Sahara and popular European holiday as temperatures continues to soar.
The blazing heat has been one of the top stories of Monday’s news cycle, so naturally, Sky News opted to point a camera directly at the sun in the name of journalism.
Viewers couldn’t help but find the move hilarious and various clips of the recording were posted online, alongside images of a reporter at Birmingham New Street with a giant thermometer.
‘Thanks for this live shot of the Sun, @skynews – I’d forgotten what it looked like,’ one person joked.
‘If there was ever to be a channel with a permanent live picture of the Sun, it would undoubtedly be called Sky News,’ another penned.

@SkyNews really helpful of you to illustrate your coverage of the heatwave & climate change with a live shot of the sun. Btw, as with the naked eye, any photographer/cameraman will tell you that it isn’t a good idea to point a camera straight at the sun.

Big shout out to @SkyNews for having a camera constantly focused on the sun. If there’s any change in the sun, they’ll be the first to let you know. 🤦🤦🤦
Echoing a similar sentiment, a third wrote: ‘Big shout out to @SkyNews for having a camera constantly focused on the sun. If there’s any change in the sun, they’ll be the first to let you know.’

Wales has provisionally recorded its hottest day ever, the Met Office said, with the mercury hit a sizzling 35.3C in Gogerddan, near Aberystwyth.
The rise in temperatures has forced the UK Health Security Agency to announce a level 4 heat-health alert – described as an ’emergency’ – while the Met Office has issued the UK’s first red extreme heat warning, with both run from today until Wednesday.
