Veteran US actor Paul Sorvino, well known for his role in the Martin Scorsese, gangster classic “Goodfellas” passed away at the age on 83 of natural causes according to sources.
He played a variety of supporting roles in movies and TV series. He was particularly fond of sculpture and opera and was best known for his role as Paul Cicero, alongside Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Ray Liotta, in the classic hit Goodfellas, released in 1990.
Paul Sorvino was born on April 13, 1939, in Brooklyn, the Bensonhurst section. His father was an Italian immigrant who used to work in a robe factory, while his mother was a housewife and piano teacher.
Paul Sorvino was always fascinated by the human voice and even sang in the Catskills hotel as a teenager. He took lessons to help him realise his dreams of becoming an opera singer but having asthma forced him to focus on acting.
